The Government of Canada has strengthened penalties for individuals who assault firefighters and paramedics while they are performing their duties. These dedicated professionals respond to emergencies every day to protect lives and property, and they deserve to do so without facing violence or intimidation.

Whether responding to a structure fire, motor vehicle collision, medical emergency, or public safety incident, first responders are there to help. Assaulting those who answer the call for help is unacceptable.

🔥 Fire Ban Lifted – Fire Safety Still Matters🔥

The City of Timmins has lifted the city-wide fire ban effective today at 4:00 p.m. While recent weather conditions have improved, residents are reminded that caution is still required whenever enjoying a campfire or conducting any open-air burning.

A fire ban can be reinstated at any time if conditions worsen.

✅ Keep water, a hose, or other extinguishing tools nearby
✅ Ensure your fire is completely extinguished before leaving the area

Conditions have improved, but the Timmins Fire Dept. warns that a fire ban may be reinstated at any time, and that you still need to use caution with open-air burning. Never leave a fire unattended.

🚨 **FOREST FIRE HAZARD UPDATE – TIMMINS AREA** 🚨

The latest Ontario Forest Fire Info Map shows the fire hazard rating in the Timmins area has been reduced to Medium. While this is an improvement from the recent Extreme conditions, it does not mean the risk of wildfire is gone.

Current dry conditions, wind, and human activity can still allow a small fire to spread quickly.

✅ Check for any local fire restrictions before burning which we are currently under!
✅ Dispose of smoking materials properly.
✅ Avoid parking vehicles on dry grass.

The latest Ontario Forest Fire Info Map shows that the City of Timmins and much of Northeastern Ontario are currently under **EXTREME forest fire conditions**.

🚒 LOOK UP... THAT'S THE AERIAL TRUCK AT WORK 🚒

The aerial truck is one of the most important pieces of equipment in the fire service. While many people recognize it by its large ladder, its capabilities extend far beyond what most people see.

Our aerial apparatus is used to:
🔥 Rescue occupants from upper floors
🔥 Provide firefighters with safe access to roofs and elevated areas
🔥 Support ventilation operations during structure fires
🔥 Deliver powerful elevated master streams of water
🔥 Assist crews during large-scale emergencies

When seconds matter, having the right apparatus and properly trained and staffed firefighters can make all the difference.

If you encounter an emergency scene where the aerial truck is operating:

✔ Slow down and proceed with caution
✔ Stay well back from the scene
✔ Never drive over fire hoses
✔ Follow directions from emergency personnel

The Ontario Forest Fire Info Map is currently showing elevated to extreme fire danger ratings in areas surrounding Timmins and Northeastern Ontario. Under these conditions, a single spark can quickly develop into a fast-moving wildfire.
