Red marks, skin irritation, and pressure sores from your CPAP mask are common, but they're not something you have to just live with.

5 ways to reduce mask irritation:
1️⃣ Clean your mask cushion daily; skin oils accelerate breakdown
2️⃣ Check your fit; a mask that's too tight causes more irritation, not less
3️⃣ Try a different cushion material; foam vs silicone makes a big difference for some patients
4️⃣ Use a mask liner to create a barrier between the cushion and your skin
5️⃣ Replace your cushion regularly; worn cushions lose their shape and cause pressure points

Not everyone can make it to a clinic, and they shouldn't have to.

At Northern Respiratory, we offer in-home assessments to evaluate whether you need oxygen therapy, adjust your current prescription, or ensure your equipment is set up correctly in your own environment.

For patients who are homebound, recovering from illness, or simply prefer the comfort of their own space, this service makes quality respiratory care truly accessible.

Give us a call to book your in-home assessment. 💙

Summer is almost over, and if your CPAP routine took a hit over the past few months, you're not alone. 💤

September is the perfect time to reset. Start with a deep clean of your equipment, mask, tubing, humidifier chamber, and filters, and recommit to using your therapy every single night.

A clean machine and a consistent routine can make a noticeable difference in how you feel within days.

Need new supplies to start fresh? Come see us.📍705 Red River Road, Unit 2

One of the most common questions from new CPAP users: "When will I actually start feeling better?"

The honest answer: it varies. Some patients notice improvements in energy and alertness within the first few days. For others, it takes a few weeks as their body adjusts to consistent, uninterrupted sleep.

What matters most is consistency. Using your CPAP every night, even during naps, gives your body the best chance to recover from the sleep debt that builds up with untreated sleep apnea.

Struggling to adjust? Our team is here to help. 💙

You've heard the title, but do you know what a Registered Respiratory Therapist actually does?

RRTs are healthcare professionals trained to assess, treat, and manage patients with breathing and cardiopulmonary disorders. They work in hospitals, clinics, and community settings, conducting respiratory assessments, setting up and managing oxygen therapy, fitting CPAP equipment, and educating patients on managing their conditions at home.

At Northern Respiratory Thunder Bay, our Health Care Practitioners are the backbone of the care we provide, combining clinical expertise with genuine compassion for every patient they support.

Travelling with CPAP just got a whole lot simpler. 💤

The ResMed AirMini is the world's smallest CPAP machine, and unlike most devices, it doesn't require a water chamber for humidification. It uses HumidX technology built right into the mask to add moisture to the air you breathe.

No distilled water to track down. No humidifier chamber to clean. Just pack it and go.

Perfect for road trips up north, fly-in fishing camps, or any adventure where simplicity matters.
