Elizabeth Fry Society of Northwestern Ontario

Elizabeth Fry Society of Northwestern Ontario A vibrant charitable org that supports/advocates for women+ who are criminalized or may be at risk.

The Elizabeth Fry Society of Northwestern Ontario is a charitable, non-profit organization. We are the only social service agency in Thunder Bay with a specific mandate to provide programs and services for criminalized women and gender diverse people. We have a 4 bed transition house and our 3 system navigators help clients access housing, food, clothing and a variety of social services. Our programs include jail visitation, court support, community reintegration, art and cultural programs, meditation and mindfulness, yoga and a book club. We believe that women and gender diverse people who have been marginalized, criminalized and imprisoned are in need of community support, counseling and supervision to assist with community integration. In this way we are helping reduce recidivism and the costs of keeping people in prisons.

📢 Exciting Announcement: A New Path to Healing at EFry!
We are thrilled to announce that next week, we will begin intakes for a new, community-rooted substance use health program!
"Walking each other home" - Wiitookotaatiwin- Helping each other"

Rooted in care and compassion, this six month program is designed to support you through every step of your journey—from pre-treatment readiness to aftercare support and everything in between.
We are proud to incorporate the RedPath approach, a model that recognizes a simple, enduring truth: people are not broken—they are disconnected. By focusing on storytelling, accountability with compassion, and human connection, we aim to move beyond symptom management to foster lasting wellness together.

Who is this for?

While our primary focus is on our residents in transitional housing, we are also opening this opportunity to all current EFry clients.
Intakes will be ongoing, so please reach out to us if you’re interested in joining this journey toward healing in community.

Please contact Bonnie for registration and intake.
