It was wonderful to see so many new grade 9 students and families at our welcome BBQ on Wednesday night! Thank you for coming out, meeting our staff, and exploring the school.

Grade 9 students will meet Thursday, September 3 at 9:30am in the cafeteria before proceeding to period one.

Students in grades 10-12 please report to your period one class Thursday, September 3 at 9:30am. Names and period one classes will be posted in the main hallways. Timetables will be distributed in homeroom classes. Students with a period one spare can pick up their timetable at the office.

🍎 Staff PA Day & Welcome Back Info! 🍏

Our dedicated staff will be kicking off the school year with our first PA day. On Wednesday, September 2nd, our educators and administration are coming together for a day of training, team collaboration, and professional learning. The official countdown is on Vikings, and we are so excited to welcome our students the very next day!

Classes officially begin on Thursday, September 3rd at 9:30 AM.

Here is where students need to head when they arrive Thursday morning:

🔹 Grade 9 students: Report directly to the cafeteria.
🔹 Grades 10–12 students: Report directly to your Period 1 class. Timetables will be distributed in homeroom classes.
🔹 Students with a Period 1 spare: Report to the main office to pick up your timetable and get your locker assigned.
🔹 Homeroom lists will be posted throughout the school hallways so you can easily find your room.

It's BBQ time Grade 9 Vikings and families!

We can't wait to welcome you to Hammarskjold High School!

Join us on Wednesday, August 26 from 5 to 7 PM for a fun-filled BBQ.

*Meet your teachers and staff
*Enjoy games and activities
*Explore the school with self-guided tours (Grade 9 timetables will be mailed home before the event)

Be sure to attend the Principal’s Welcome at 5:15 in the Cafeteria followed by the BBQ in the Courtyard.

For those of you who cannot attend, the school will be open for self-guided tours the week of August 24 from 8:30-4.

Congratulations to Hammarskjold High School graduate Sofia Johnston on being named a 2026 Schulich Leader and receiving the prestigious Schulich Leaders Scholarship to pursue Mechatronics Engineering at Queen’s University.

Sofia is one of only 100 students across Canada selected for this competitive STEM scholarship, which recognizes exceptional academic achievement, entrepreneurial thinking, leadership, creativity, and passion for innovation.

We are incredibly proud of Sofia’s remarkable accomplishment and know she will continue to inspire others as she embarks on this exciting new chapter!
