We're inviting interested residents and businesses to apply to join the Temporary Shelter Village Neighbourhood Liaison Committee.

Residents with a connection to the area and representatives of businesses located near the site are eligible to apply.

Applications are available now at thunderbay.ca/village

Paper copies can also be accessed at City Hall and branches of the Thunder Bay Public Library.

The deadline to apply is September 27 at 11:59pm.

Don't miss our annual Trunk and Tailgate Sale, TOMORROW, September 12 from 9:00 - 2:00.

Reminder: the items you can put out for curbside garbage collection have not changed. Only general, non-recyclable household waste is accepted. Stumps, industrial & construction waste, angle iron/rebar and branches must not be placed in the cart. These photos show how heavy, solid items can jam and damage the workings of a garbage truck, as it receives and compresses the waste. More info at www.thunderbay.ca/garbage

🚸 With another school year underway, let's work together to keep Thunder Bay's school zones safe! Here's how you can help... 🚸

🚗 Drivers and guardians:
Slow down, park only in allowed areas, stop for crossing guards and school buses with flashing red lights, and follow your school’s drop‑off procedures.

You can help reduce congestion by parking a block away and letting kids walk a block.

👩‍🎓 Students:
Use crosswalks, obey traffic signals and crossing guards, walk bikes and scooters across streets (don’t ride when crossing), and make eye contact with drivers.

👥Everyone:
Stay alert and look out for each other.

Be aware of a change at some locations this year. Electronic whistle testing is now underway at 8 crossing guard locations. At these locations, guards will use the 3‑whistle system to help make crossings clear and consistent:

• 1 long whistle — crossing guard enters roadway; vehicles must stop
• 2 short whistles — pedestrians may cross
• 1 long whistle — roadway is clear; vehicles may proceed
