Avoid this new email scam!
This is a scam email that we received, claiming to be from the CRA. However, a closer look shows that this email does not come from a Government of Canada email address: it comes from [email protected].
There is a link to a "PDF" that looks real in the email. The suspected goal of this email is to "phish" for your information by getting you to log in or provide sensitive information at their link. They can use this information to potentially access your accounts or impersonate you.
We also suggest that you access online portals only directly from their websites; do NOT open online portals from links in emails, if possible. By searching for the site you want to log into directly, you can be more sure that you are actually giving your information to the right place. In this case, go directly to https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency to safely log in to check for CRA messages.
This scam is extra dangerous this time of year. Make sure you keep your personal information safe online!
