June 22–28 is Pollinator Week!

This week, we're highlighting the MNO's Native Bee Monitoring Project and the important role Métis citizens play in protecting Ontario's biodiversity.

As part of the MNO's commitment to stewarding lands and waters for future generations, 110 Métis citizen households across the province participate in monitoring native bee populations. Through observing bee hotels, tracking native bee activity, recording plant life cycles, and documenting seasonal weather patterns, participants contribute valuable data that helps researchers better understand the impacts of climate change on pollinators and ecosystems.

Attention Citizens! Registration is now open for the Metis Nation of Ontario's (MNO) 33rd Annual General Assembly.

This year's AGA will be held at Fort William Historical Park - 1350 King Rd, Thunder Bay, ON P7K 1L7 from Friday, August 14th - Sunday August 16th, 2026.

The Annual General Assembly is an opportunity for all citizens to participate in shaping the direction and future of MNO.

This year's events include:

-President's Welcome and Canoe Arrival
-The return of MNO's "We Aspire" AGA Golf Tournament
-AGA business meetings

Are you between the ages of 16-29?

Join us for the 2026 MNO Youth Leadership Conference.

This August, Métis youth from across Ontario will gather in Thunder Bay for our 10th Annual Youth Leadership Conference - a powerful opportunity to connect, learn, and lead.

When: Tuesday, August 11 to Wednesday August 12, 2026
Where: Valhalla Hotel & Conference Centre, 1 Valhalla Inn Rd, Thunder Bay
Who: Verified MNO citizens ages 16–29 (Youth under 18 will need a chaperone.)

This year's theme is Building Our Nation: Métis Youth and Self-Governance. Participants can expect:

- Interactive workshops on self-governance and Métis leadership
- Land-based learning experiences
- A unique opportunity to connect with Métis youth from across the province
- Storytelling sessions that celebrate our identity and community

Join Dr. Raymond Therrien for an MNO Scholar Talks presentation on June 23, 2026, at 6 p.m. EDT.
The session will explore the diversity of Michif languages, how they are connected to Métis identity and what their recognition could mean for Métis-led language revitalization efforts.

Participants will also learn why different languages may require unique resources, programming, and supports.

There be fish in these waters! The Niagara Region Metis Youth Group spent the day fishing at Charles Daily Park in Niagara on Saturday, May 30, 2026. One of our Youth had family members attend with them, three generations of Metis Fishing Men enjoying the day. Memories of the day will last a lifetime for all in attendance.

This June, the Métis Nation of Ontario's (MNO) Health Promotion team is creating space for conversations around identity, healing, mental wellness, and Métis 2SLGBTQIA+ experiences.
Join us for two virtual Pride Month sessions focused on community, belonging, and Métis stories of pride.

June 8 — Living True: 2SLGBTQIA+ Communities & Why Identity Matters

Milo McAllister and Liv Miller will explore identity spectrums, experiences within the community, barriers faced by 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, and the connection between identity and positive mental wellness.

June 15 — Narratives of Pride: Space for Métis 2SLGBTQIA+ Stories

Facilitated by Liv Miller, this panel will feature Métis storytellers sharing experiences of healing, joy, and connection within the community.
Whether you are part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community or looking to learn and grow as an ally, all are welcome.
