🚨 INCIDENT UPDATE
​At approximately 5:00 AM this morning, The Pas Fire Department was dispatched to a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision on Highway 10 North of The Pas involving a pickup truck and a SUV. EMS was on scene providing medical care to the occupants of the vehicles.

​Upon arrival, crews secured the scene by:
​Disconnecting vehicle batteries to prevent fire hazards
​Cleaning up leaking fluids and debris from the roadway
​Providing traffic control to ensure safety for all motorists and responders

​All units were cleared and back in service at 07:15 AM.

​We would like to remind all drivers with the September long weekend approaching to exercise caution, stay alert, and slow down when passing emergency personnel working along the highway.

Happy Volunteer Firefighter Appreciation Day! 🧑‍🚒🚒

Today, we take a moment to honor and recognize the incredible dedication, bravery, and sacrifice of volunteer and paid-on-call firefighters across Manitoba, and especially right here in our Tri-Community!

Whether responding to emergency calls at all hours of the night, stepping away from family dinners, or spending countless hours training to keep our neighborhoods safe, your commitment to protecting lives and property does not go unnoticed.

🚒 The Pas Fire Department Update 🚒
This week, our dedicated firefighters were hard at work sharpening their skills with specialized HazMat (Hazardous Materials) Operations training!
Our team focused on essential emergency response protocols, including:
📖 Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG): Utilizing fast-reference guidebooks to quickly identify hazardous materials, determine safety perimeters, and execute proper evacuation or containment strategies.
👨‍🚀 Class A HazMat Suit Donning & Ops: Practicing the step-by-step procedures for safely donning, operating in, and doffing fully vapor-protective suits—ensuring maximum protection during high-risk chemical or toxic spill incidents.

Continuous training like this ensures our crew is fully prepared to keep The Pas and surrounding communities safe under any conditions.

🌊 SURFACING NEW SKILLS! 🌊
This past weekend, members of The Pas Fire Department took part in specialized Surface Water Rescue training to sharpen our life-saving skills.

We were pleased to host instructors from the Manitoba Emergency Services College, who traveled up to deliver a comprehensive course covering both vital classroom theory and hands-on practical skill work directly in the Pasquia River. For some of our members this was the first time they have ever drove a boat!

Surrounded by so many lakes, rivers, and waterways in our region, maintaining strong water rescue capabilities is essential for our team. Training scenarios like this ensure our members are fully prepared to respond safely and effectively whenever the tri-community needs us.

Thank you to Pat and Richard for coming up, and a big shoutout to our dedicated members for spending their weekend training hard to keep The Pas and surrounding areas safe! 🚒💦

🚨Advanced Vehicle Extrication 🚨

Tonight, our crews were out on the training grounds putting in serious work on advanced vehicle extrication techniques.

During this evening’s scenario, members practiced and mastered a complex stabilization maneuver—lifting the entire front end of a rolled-over vehicle 90 degrees (vehicle taco). In critical rollover incidents, gaining immediate, safe access to patients while stabilizing a vehicle in a precarious position is essential. Exercises like this allow our personnel to refine their technical skills and adapt to high-stress, rapidly changing emergency scenes.

I want to personally commend our members for their continuous dedication to training and professional development. Their hard work ensures that The Pas Fire Department remains fully prepared to serve and protect our community when every second counts.
