Happy International Women’s Day! This year, we would like to highlight our local branches of Women’s Institutes, groups of dedicated women that have contributed greatly to our community. Leading fundraising initiatives, supporting local soldiers overseas and recording local history are just some of the many feats these women have accomplished. With roots in the Blue Mountains going back to 1902 after the formation of the Millcreek branch, and others forming in Ravenna, Clarksburg, Heathcote and Thornbury, for generations these local women have been a pillar in our community.
