Ladies’ Auxiliary

The Legion was founded in November 1925 in Winnipeg and chartered in July 1926 by special Act of Parliament. However, Veteran’s Welfare and Assistance had been carried on since 1916. During the 1914-1918 war years as wounded Veterans returned home, women were asked to help with their recovery by visiting hospitals, sending parcels to the hospitalized and to needy families. These ladies served the Veterans and their dependants. Thus, our Ladies’ Auxiliary unofficially became a reality! Ontario Command currently has 201 Auxiliaries with 6,051 members.

The Branch 261 Ladies Auxiliary held its annual election meeting on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and have the following L. A. members making up the 2026-2027 executive:

President- Rose Marceau
1st V. P. - Sandra Sauve
Secretary-Treasurer -Kim Wonsch
Sergeant-at-Arms - Carolyn Venus
Sports Officer - Sandra Ganney

Congratulations to all executive and Good Luck for a successful term of office.

Our Ladies Auxiliary have been serving Branch 261, Veterans & their families, and our community since May, 1938.

Rose Marceau joined the Ladies Auxiliary in 1990, and has held the position of president many times, as well as every other executive position at least once.

THANK YOU ROSE for stepping up to the plate one more time!
