Warm weather means event season is here — and with it, an increase in Special Event Permit requests.

If you are planning an event in the Township of Stone Mills with attendance of 250 or more people, you are required to apply for a Special Event Permit under By-law 2019-965. This by-law helps event organizers and businesses plan safe and successful events while reducing risks to the Township and residents.

Event organizers are also encouraged to explore the Government of Canada’s funding programs for the culture, history and sport sectors, which includes a list of available funding opportunities that may support eligible events, festivals and community initiatives. https://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-heritage/services/funding.html

A special thank you to Collin Blois from Napanee District Secondary School and Nicholas McCallum from Sydenham High School for their hard work and contributions during their co-op placements with the Township of Stone Mills’ Public Works Department. As they complete their final day with us, we extend our appreciation for their dedication and wish them all the best in the future.

Working alongside Nate Maleska, Fleet Supervisor and Dave Soudant, Industrial Mechanic/Labourer, they’ve gained valuable hands-on experience learning about municipal equipment, operations, and the day-to-day work that helps keep our community running.

Stone Mills is proud to have hosted 18 co-op students over the past 6 years and pleased to support local youth in building practical skills and exploring careers in public works.
