Did you know that June is Men's Mental Health Month?

To support men's mental health and well-being, Bereaved Families of Nova Scotia is offering a 6-week virtual Living with Grief program for men only.

If you are a man living in Nova Scotia who is struggling with the loss of a loved one and unsure where to turn for support, please know that you do not have to navigate your grief alone. We are here to help.

This carefully designed program provides a safe, supportive, and confidential space for men who are navigating the pain of loss. Sessions are led by trained male facilitators with lived experience and a deep understanding of the challenges that come with losing someone you love.

Together, we can create a space where healing, connection, and hope are possible.

📅 When: Mondays, June 22nd - July 27th
🕕 Time: Evenings, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
📍 Where: Virtual by Zoom

What to Expect:

▶️ An understanding of the complexities and challenges of grief following a loss.
▶️ Practical coping strategies, tools, and supportive steps to help you navigate your grief journey.

Registration is now open to attend our Summer Grief Support Programs! 🌞

Our programs provide a safe, welcoming, and compassionate space where individuals can connect with others who understand the challenges of loss. Whether your loss is recent or occurred some time ago, these programs offer support, understanding, and opportunities for healing.

Led by trained facilitators, each session encourages meaningful conversation, compassionate listening, and connection with helpful resources to support you on your grief journey.

SESSION INFORMATION:

▶️ Session are FREE to join for 18 yrs and older
▶️Session are offered in person & virtually ( depending on location)
▶️ Registration is required for virtual sessions
▶️ Walk-ins welcomed for all in-person sessions

NEW START DATE!!!! June 15th

Bereaved Families is now offering an in-person 6-Week Loss of a Spouse/Partner Program beginning Monday, June 8th. This supportive program provides a safe and compassionate space for individuals grieving the loss of a spouse or partner. Sessions are guided by trained facilitators who have also experienced this type of loss and understand the journey of grief firsthand.

📅 When: June 15th - July 20th
🕕 Time: Monday evenings, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
📍 188 George Street, Sydney

What to Expect:
➡️Connection with others who truly understand your experience.
➡️Guidance and comfort from facilitators who’ve faced similar losses.
➡️A supportive, caring environment to share, reflect, and heal together.

We have exciting news — Bereaved Families of Nova Scotia is currently hiring a student for the summer.

Anticipated Start Date: May 19th, 2026

Position Details:
• Monday to Friday
• 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• $20.00 per hour

We’re looking for motivated, organized, and enthusiastic individual who want to gain valuable experience while making a meaningful impact in the community.

How To Apply!

Job Overview
The successful candidate will be expected to work 35 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $20.00. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This role is essential for ensuring smooth daily operations and providing exceptional support to our clients and staff. The position requires the student to work in our Sydney office.

The Advertising & Marketing Assistant Tasks and Responsibilities are as follows:
Work on special projects: develop short videos for all programs and sessions, update Bereaved Families Resource Booklet and other projects as assigned.
Support the organization in all advertising and market-related activities.
Assists in preparing print and electronic advertising material.
Prepare all social media posts and advertising for programs.
Maintain website content for the Bereaved Families.
Identify target markets and deliver flyers and brochures to various local and regional destinations as needed.
Promote the programs and services of Bereaved Families.
Plan and attend fundraising and community events to promote the organization.
Project work as assigned to apply to foundations/grants.
Answer phone calls and email communication and return messages as needed.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment as per OH&S guidelines.
Be available any time outside of regular working hours in case of emergency.
Attend events and represent the organization as needed.
Communicate any opportunities or concerns.
Perform other advertising and marketing tasks as assigned.
