🔥🚒 A BIG SHOUTOUT & CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FIREFIGHTERS! 🚒🔥

We are incredibly proud of our firefighters pictured here (with 3 missing) who recently completed the NFPA 1140 Wildland Firefighter course — and everyone successfully passed the test! 👏🎉

With fire seasons changing every year and wildfires continuing to present new challenges, it is more important than ever for our crews to keep learning, improving their skills, and building on the techniques we already use to safely and effectively fight wildland fires.

Our firefighters had the opportunity to take this amazing course to expand their knowledge and strengthen their abilities so we can continue to better serve our community, our farmers, and our surrounding neighbours.

This training also helps prepare our crews to lend a helping hand when it is needed beyond our own community, including supporting our neighbours in Northern Saskatchewan during challenging wildfire seasons.

We are extremely proud of the time, dedication, and hard work our members continue to put into their training. Every course completed makes our department stronger, safer, and better prepared to answer the call. 🚒🔥

The RM of Swift Current Fire Department was toned out Monday at approximately 4:00 PM for a farmyard fire. Our crews worked throughout the evening and didn’t return to the hall and get back in service until around 1:00 AM.

A huge thank you goes out to all the farmers who stepped up to help, as well as everyone who brought water trucks to keep us supplied.
It was a long night, but once again, our community showed what can be accomplished when everyone works together. 🚒🔥

Thank you to everyone who supported our crews and helped get the job done. Stay safe out there!

🚒🔥 Field Fire Response 🔥🚒

On Sunday, the RM of Swift Current Fire Department was called out to a combine and barley field fire.Our crews worked quickly alongside local farmers to contain and extinguish the flames. A huge thank you to the farmers who jumped in and worked alongside our firefighters—their help is always greatly appreciated.

With the hot, dry conditions, please be aware of crossover conditions, when the temperature rises above the relative humidity. These conditions can cause fires to ignite easily and spread rapidly.

🚒 Training Day! 🚒

Our firefighters put their skills to the test during Search & Rescue and Rapid Intervention training.

Using a building scheduled for demolition, our members trained in realistic scenarios involving victim rescues, firefighter rescues, and firefighter self-rescue. Training in real structures provides invaluable experience that simply can’t be replicated in a classroom.

Every drill helps us sharpen our skills, strengthen teamwork, and prepare for the day our community needs us most.

A sincere thank you to the property owners and our community for allowing us to use this building before it was demolished. Your generosity gave our firefighters an incredible opportunity to train in a realistic environment, making us better prepared to protect the people we serve.

Yesterday in the Country 94.1/Country 1490 morning show powered by Canadian Tire, the RM of Swift Current #137 Fire Department fire chief Pete L'Heureux stopped by to discuss fire safety with the extreme hot weather and lack of moisture forthcoming in the forecast. 🔥

One point he made, is if you see a fire in a field and aren't sure if it's a controlled burn, a burn barrel or a grass fire, air on the side of caution and call it in. Rather be safe than sorry in fire season in Saskatchewan! 👍

Over the past days, the RM of Swift Current Fire Department has been dispatched to two separate grass fires. Thanks to the quick response and hard work of our firefighters and farmers, both fires were brought under control before they could spread further. 🚒

With the current high temperatures and dropping humidity levels, conditions are extremely dry, and the risk of grass fires is elevated.

We ask everyone to use caution while working in the fields or operating equipment.

Stay safe, stay alert, and thank you for doing your part to help protect our community. 🔥🌾

It’s been a week since the parade! 🚒❤️

We can honestly say we had just as much fun taking part as you all did watching. Rain or shine, the support from our community was incredible, and we’re so grateful to everyone who came out despite the weather.

Thank you for cheering us on, waving from the sidelines, and making another parade one to remember. We can’t wait to see you all again next year! 🚒🎉
