On June 17, at approximately 6 p.m., Swan River RCMP initiated a traffic stop on the driver of an SUV that had an expired temporary plate.

The stop occurred near the intersection of Main Street and 5th Avenue North, in Swan River. The driver told RCMP she did not have a driver’s license with her and gave her name. After some checking, RCMP learned the driver actually had a different name and that there was a warrant of arrest out for her after missing a court date.

The driver was arrested without incident.

A 30-year-old Swan River female faces charges of:
• Obstructing a police officer; and
• Failure to comply with an undertaking.

She was held in custody overnight, pending a court appearance on Thursday.

On June 15, at approximately 5:15 p.m., RCMP responded to a disturbance that occurred at a business on the 700-block of Main Street in Swan River.

RCMP learned a male suspect had walked up to the business and hit its front window with his fist, smashing it. The suspect was located a short distance away and arrested without incident.

A 41-year-old Swan River male faces charges of:
• Mischief under $5,000; and
• Failure to comply with his probation order.

He was held in custody overnight.

The Swan River RCMP would like to remind everyone to stay off roads that are closed. Going around barricades is not safe and is putting yourself and repair crews in danger. It is an offence to drive on a closed road or highway, the fine for this is $672. Please check Manitoba 511 for updates on road closures.

Swan River RCMP would like to advise the public of overland flooding around the Swan River Valley. The highways are currently closed between Cowan and Swan River on highway 10, and in the Alpine area on highway 83. As well there is multiple side roads that have been washed out and are unpassable. Please avoid these areas. Check Manitoba Highways for further updates on the road conditions.

On June 4, at approximately 12:50 a.m., a Swan River RCMP officer standing in the detachment parking lot saw a male leaving a licensed establishment across the street with an alcoholic beverage in his hand.

The officer got out of his vehicle and was greeted by the suspect, who was known to RCMP and was under a court order to not possess alcohol. The suspect told the officer he was holding the beverage for a friend.

At that point, the officer informed the male he was being arrested. The suspect ran and a foot chase ensued. RCMP caught up to the suspect in an alley and a brief struggle ensued, with the individual continuing to resist before finally being brought into custody.

No injuries requiring medical treatment were recorded.

Matthew Larocque, 35, of Swan River is charged with:
• Resisting arrest; and
• Failure to comply with a release order condition.

He was remanded into custody, with his next court appearance scheduled for today.

On May 23, at approximately 4 :45 a.m., Swan River RCMP pulled over a vehicle travelling west on Highway 483.

After conversing with the driver, the officer began to suspect she was impaired and arrested her. The suspect refused to provide a breath sample.

A 54-year-old Sapotaweyak Cree Nation female faces charges of:
• Operating a vehicle while impaired;
• Refusing to comply with breath demand
• Operation of a vehicle while prohibited.

She was held in custody overnight, then released on an appearance notice.
