When the Mayor authorized the spending of $250,000.00 to announce the big things that are happening, did she announce the cost of those “Big Thing” signs? Why did it take 3 ½ years to make an announcement without letting us know what some of those big things are going to cost the Surrey Taxpayer?

> Coordinate a full, local anti-extortion command
> Hire intelligence officers
> Dedicate helicopter patrols
> Create public-reporting tools with victim support
> Conduct weekly public updates with Mayor Mike Starchuk
> Name/photograph charged suspects
> Send those convicted the bill for damages
> Hire hundreds of new officers/crime cameras

Mike Starchuk understands that Bus Rapid Transit is the first step to future SkyTrain expansion. He will not immediately clog-up King George Blvd with more construction -- or 'Light Rail Linda's' slow, costly LRT project -- while Fraser Highway is experiencing the very same congestion. That doesn't get people home to family and friends on time.

As usual, 'Dubai Doug' McCallum has his head in the clouds, his timing all wrong, and his priorities all backwards. Imagine Surrey will invest in Bus Rapid Transit first: to solve Scott Rd to Newton, 152nd via Guildford to South Surrey, and King George down to Semiamhoo, via Newton. That is how we get to more SkyTrain right-of-way while ensuring faster, safer commutes now ... as we build through our city's next period of planned growth.

When Brenda Locke was elected with “team Doug McCallum” in 2018, that “team” cancelled the Cloverdale ice complex because of a zero tax increase promise. When Brenda Locke put the project back on the books, the costs ballooned to over $131 million dollars. She had to use Provincial funding of $70 million dollars to make the project come to fruition, of which, $35 million was used for the cost overruns. Is this a fiscally responsible Mayor and council spending your tax dollars? We think not.

Election promises of zero tax increase will see cuts in services, no new facilities, no new firefighters, no new police officers and or the sale of City assets to pay for the necessities and amenities the citizens of Surrey need and rely on. Imagine Surrey will cap any tax increases to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in order to maintain services, hire more frontline workers and build new recreational facilities.
