Do you know an individual, organization, business, or young leader making a real difference in your community? Now is the time to recognize their impact through Canada’s Volunteer Awards.

The Government of Canada is accepting nominations until June 17, 2026, celebrating Canadians who strengthen communities through volunteerism, leadership, and innovation. Categories include:

Emerging Leader (ages 18–30)
Community Leader
Business Leader
Social Innovator
Thérèse Casgrain Lifelong Achievement Award

Award recipients receive national recognition, and associated grants of up to $10,000 can be directed to a non-profit organization of their choice.  

Volunteers are the backbone of our communities. If you know someone who goes above and beyond to help others, consider nominating them today.

I’m proud to support initiatives that help seniors stay active, connected, and engaged in our community.

Applications are now open for the 2026–2027 New Horizons for Seniors Program, which provides funding for community-based projects that enhance the lives of older adults. I encourage organizations across South Surrey—White Rock to explore this opportunity and consider applying.

Applications close July 14, 2026.

As a British Columbian, I know how important wild salmon are to our communities, cultures, and way of life.

On Wild Salmon Day, we recognize the people working tirelessly to protect and restore this iconic species. Our government recently renewed more than $412 million for the Pacific Salmon Strategy Initiative (PSSI) to continue supporting Pacific salmon recovery, while announcing $81 million in new funding to conserve and restore wild Atlantic salmon populations.

Healthy salmon mean healthy ecosystems, thriving communities, and a stronger future for Canada.

As the father of a son who uses a wheelchair, I have seen firsthand how accessibility can open doors and create opportunities for individuals and families.

Canada LIFTs is a new $48.5 million program that supports Canadian charities, non-profits, faith-based groups, and community organizations working with partners in developing countries.

Through funding, training, and partnership support, the program will help up to 750 organizations grow their impact and fund 200 international development projects that strengthen communities and improve lives.
