We’re bringing rail car manufacturing back to Canada.

For the first time in four decades, VIA Rail passenger cars will be built and manufactured right here in Canada.

This investment will help strengthen Canadian industry while ensuring communities across the country continue to have access to reliable passenger rail service. It means more opportunities for Canadian workers and economic benefits that will be felt for years to come.

When we invest in Canadian manufacturing, we create opportunities here at home and build a stronger future for the next generation. That’s how we build Canada strong.

Canadian workers build the future of this country.

Labour Day is a reminder that a strong Canada depends on the people who show up every day and get the job done.

This Labour Day, let’s continue supporting Canadian workers and the industries that provide good jobs across the country. Building Canada strong starts with backing the people whose hard work helps shape our future.

Happy Labour Day.

Big Way Hot Pot is a great new addition to White Rock’s growing restaurant community.

It was great to stop by and present the team with a certificate recognizing their new White Rock location.

It’s always encouraging to see new businesses choose to invest in our community. I know many residents will be happy to see it open its doors!

Wishing the owners and staff all the best as they get established in White Rock.

Lower fuel costs mean relief that Canadians will notice in their everyday lives.

Our government is extending federal fuel excise tax relief on gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuels until January 31, 2027, with only half of the regular rate applied through March 2027.

This measure will continue to lower costs at the pump while helping reduce expenses for the businesses that transport goods, grow food, and build homes across Canada. As global uncertainty continues, we are taking practical steps to make life more affordable while strengthening Canada’s economy for the future.

Nearly 1,000 people came out for our 2nd Annual Community BBQ, and what a day it was! 🎉

From cultural dance performances and kids’ activities to great food, donuts, bubbles, and plenty of time to catch up with neighbours, the park was packed with energy from start to finish.

A big thank you to the firefighters from Surrey Fire Service and White Rock Fire Rescue for cooking for the crowd, Goldie’s Donuts for the treats, and Mr. Bubbles for keeping everyone entertained all afternoon.

We’re also grateful to MP Ron McKinnon and the mayors and councillors from Surrey and White Rock for stopping by.

Most of all, we’re incredibly proud of the volunteers and staff who made the day possible.

What a turnout. What a community. See you next year!

Congratulations to Peace Arch News on 50 years of operation! Over the past five decades, Peace Arch News has served as a trusted voice in our community. As our community has grown, Peace Arch News has grown alongside it every step of the way. Congratulations to the entire Peace Arch team for welcoming me into their office. It was an honour to celebrate this remarkable milestone alongside those who continue to make our community stronger.

Right here in South Surrey, N&H Chicken Farm raises between 80,000 and 95,000 chicks every eight weeks, reflecting the strength of our local agricultural community.

A special thank you to the Carman family and their team for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to Canadian agriculture. Their efforts support local jobs, contribute to our economy, and help ensure Canadian families have access to high-quality food!
