Welcome to the campaign!

I’m excited to launch this page as we begin the campaign for Doug McCallum and the Safe Surrey Coalition.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing some of the places we visit, the people we meet, and the ideas we’re hearing from Surrey residents about the future of our city.

After 15 years as editor of the Surrey Now-Leader, I know how important local stories are. This campaign is a chance to listen to those stories and talk about how we can make Surrey safer, more affordable, and ready for the future.

✨ Surrey’s future just hit the streets, and it’s looking bolder than ever.
Yesterday marked a huge milestone for our campaign: the official Safe Surrey Coalition signs and posters are officially UP!
Mayor Doug McCallum and Safe Surrey Coalition council candidates were out on the ground yesterday putting up our very first sign together, kicking off the final stretch. Seeing our team’s name, energy, and vision standing tall across the city is a reminder of why we’re in this fight: to keep Surrey moving forward with real leadership and bold progress.
We aren’t just making promises, we’re getting to work.

Heppell Farm feeds Surrey, strengthens Canada’s food security and grows some of the first potatoes harvested in Canada each spring.
Doug McCallum’s plan is clear: protect the 300-acre farm permanently, keep the Heppell family farming it and make it the flagship of his Farm Local plan to bring more affordable, locally grown food to Surrey families.
A one-year lease is not enough. We should be growing Canadian potatoes here at home, not becoming more dependent on American potatoes.
Protect Heppell Farm. Keep it public. Keep it farming. Forever.
