I’m really excited to offer a NEW course for any professional (social worker, counsellor, psychologist, case manager, program director or any other adoption/foster care professional) who is really wanting to go deeper in their learning of safe and developmentally appropriate interventions for children and youth who have experienced complex trauma. 💚

This course goes beyond the traditional trauma teaching and delves into each stage of a child’s development and how missed experiences show up later on in specific behaviors and relational patterns. 💚

Through this framework you will learn powerful interventions that I have tested over the past twenty years in working with families. What I have learned is that it is so important we don’t ask kids to do things, perform or behave differently when they don’t have foundational skills or experiences to be successful. 💚

Knowing how to assess appropriately and offer interventions in a strategic manner that build missed skills from the earliest stages of development is how we help kids heal and move forward. 💚

If this course sounds like what you need in this stage of your career and learning please find the link to a full course description in the bio. 💚

Spaces are limited to ensure that discussions meet the needs of participants to fully integrate the new material into their current practise.💚

You don’t have to carry this alone. 💚

Parenting a child with developmental trauma asks more of you than most people will ever understand.
You love your child deeply. You have fought for them, advocated for them, learned everything you can, and remained committed through challenges you never imagined. Yet there are days when you feel exhausted, isolated, discouraged, or overwhelmed. You may wonder if anyone truly understands what life is like for you. 💚

This group was created for mothers just like you.
It is a place where you can speak honestly about your experience without fear of judgment or needing to explain yourself. A place where your love for your child and the complexity of your journey can both be true. A place where your wellbeing matters, too. 💚

This group is for you if...

*You are parenting a child with developmental trauma through adoption, foster care, kinship care or any other form of permanency.

*You often feel emotionally and physically exhausted by the demands of parenting.

*Friends, family, or even professionals don’t always understand your reality.

*You notice your child’s trauma affecting your own nervous system and emotional wellbeing.

*You want practical tools to help you navigate the challenges of parenting while caring for yourself.

*You long to connect with other mothers who truly understand this journey.

*You miss feeling like yourself and want to reconnect with who you are beyond parenting.

FREE ONLINE SUMMER EVENT with ACS 💚

Join mentor and speaker Parker Johnson for an intimate, lived-experience conversation that pulls back the curtain on his journey. Andrea Chatwin, adoptive parent and agency founder will guide the interview drawing from Parker’s experiences both past and present: personal childhood reflections, adolescent difficulties, family of origin history, being raised in a white community current work in community, and with youth. 💚

This conversation will leave participants with a deeper level of insight as well as practical suggestions of how to move forward in this complex parenting journey. We look forward to sharing this unique experience with anyone parenting BIPOC children and youth in a transracial family. 💚

Parenting Developmental Trauma: 12 Week Online Course with Live Zoom Discussions

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
How trauma disrupts cognitive, emotional, social, and neurological development
The reasons or missed skills behind the behavior—so you stop feeling confused, triggered, or terrified that things might get worse.
A framework for understanding your child’s multiple developmental ages and how they impact behavior and attachment.
Therapeutic ways to respond to defiance, lying, aggression, and other harmful behaviors.
How to build trust, safety, and connection—even when it feels impossible.
How to create a personalized parenting plan to meet your child where they are, rather than where their chronological age expects them to be.

THIS COURSE WILL HELP YOU:

✔ Respond instead of react—using calm, intentional, therapeutic tools that have been planned.

✔ Shift out of survival mode into a sense of confidence in responses to complex issues.
