🚓 Community connections in White Rock! 🤝

🤝 Community engagement and collaboration were highlights for CFSEU-BC’s Gang Intervention and Exiting Team at the White Rock RCMP Open House on September 12.

Opened by Mayor Megan Knight alongside White Rock Fire and Police representatives, the event welcomed an estimated 500+ attendees. GIET members distributed End Gang Life items and shared information about the Gang Intervention and Exiting Program.

The team also connected with other policing units, including discussions with the Human Trafficking Unit about future collaboration to help connect potential clients with the program.

CFSEU-BC’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) recently completed a two-week deployment to Fort St. John in support of the Fort St. John RCMP following an increase in violence in the community.

During the deployment, officers conducted proactive enforcement targeting individuals associated with gang activity, violence and the illicit drug trade.
The deployment resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including co***ne, methamphetamine and fentanyl; seven fi****ms; approximately $16,000 in Canadian currency; and additional weapons and related items.

The deployment also generated significant intelligence that will support ongoing investigations and future enforcement efforts.

CFSEU-BC remains committed to working with policing partners across British Columbia to disrupt gang activity and enhance public safety.

Talking to kids about drugs, gangs, peer pressure, social media and other challenges isn’t always easy—but it doesn’t have to happen in one big, serious conversation.

For one mom who has spent years working in youth outreach, the approach is about connection: finding everyday opportunities to listen, stay curious and keep the conversation going. 🤝

Talk about friendships:
🔹 Who are they spending time with?
🔹 How do those friendships make them feel?
🔹 What kind of friend do they want to be?
🔹 Do the people around them support them and want to see them succeed?

When children know they can talk without being judged or punished, they’re more likely to reach out when something doesn’t feel right.

❤️ Stay connected. Ask questions. Listen. Have these conversations regularly—not only when something goes wrong.

Charges Laid in Lower Mainland Illegal Gaming Operation

Two individuals are facing criminal charges after an investigation by CFSEU-BC’s Joint Illegal Gaming Investigation Team (JIGIT) into multiple illegal gaming houses in Burnaby and Vancouver.

Seizures & Forfeitures:
~$240,000 CAD
~145 kg of illegal to***co
Gaming equipment & electronic devices

Approved Charges:
Shahrouz Younesi (54, Burnaby): Keeping a common gaming house & Sale of unstamped to***co
Xiaoyi “Karen” Zhang (46, Vancouver): Keeping a common gaming house

All proceeds and equipment have been forfeited to the Province of BC. Thanks to Burnaby RCMP, VPD, IERT, BC Ministry of Finance, and the CRA for their assistance.

We had an incredible day at the Langley RCMP Open House!

Families explored police vehicles, met officers and learned about community safety. Our Gang Intervention and Exiting Team and Uniform Gang Enforcement Team were also there connecting with attendees.

The highlight was the iconic RCMP Musical Ride, featuring stunning formations and cavalry drills on the grass Grand Prix arena.

The final stop on Protecting BC Together is Vancouver Island.

Busy ferry routes, commercial ports, and coastal waterways are vital to British Columbia—but organized crime also seeks to exploit these transportation networks.

CFSEU-BC's Island District works with RCMP detachments, municipal police agencies, and federal partners to investigate organized crime affecting Vancouver Island and surrounding communities.

Using intelligence, coordinated investigations, and targeted enforcement, the team disrupts criminal activity while supporting investigations that often extend beyond the Island and across British Columbia.

Whether an investigation starts on the Island or stretches across British Columbia, we're working together to stay one step ahead—because organized crime doesn't stop at the shoreline, and neither do we.
