Strong Township Township of Strong The first settlers arrived in Strong Township as early as 1876. Strong Township is a township in the province of Ontario, Canada.

Located in the Parry Sound District, the Township surrounds but does not include the Village of Sundridge. The Township had a population of 1,341 in the Canada 2011 Census. The Township surrounds beautiful Lake Bernard, which is claimed to be the world’s largest freshwater lake without an island. The lake is the most important asset. It attracts people in all seasons for swimming, fishing, sailing

, canoeing, skating and many other sports. It provides photographers and artists with endless hours of recreation. Cheer Lake and Pool Lake are also enjoyed by our residents.

Join the SSJ Recreation Committee for a Canada Day Celebration!

The parade will commence on Main Street starting at 4 pm, followed by the opening ceremonies at the Village of Sundridge waterfront area.

The Sundridge Lions will be hosting a BBQ and there will be lots of activities for the whole family, including live music by a local artist Lauren McLaren.

The businesses on Main Street; Wing House, Sips Cafe, 89 Main Street, Bernard's Bistro and Yetti's Pizza will be open for your pleasure.

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets because the skies will light up with a spectacular fire works display at dusk!

Effective May 6,2026 the fire rating has increased to MODERATE.
While the rules around open air burning remain the same this highlights an increased risk for open-air burning.

Reminders:
~You must have means of suppression
~Wind speed must not be greater than 20km/h
~Fire must be supervised at all times
~Burning only during permitted hours

website)

Public Notice - May 6, 2026

Please be advised that all roads in the Township of Strong are now passable, South Lake Bernard Road at the Pool Lake outlet is open with one lane only, until further notice.

The Public Works Department are continuing to do work, so we ask that you please use caution, adhere to signage and barriers, and watch out for staff and equipment.
