Septic Tip: A leaky toilet flapper can overload your septic system and waste hundreds of litres of water daily. The good news? It’s easy to check and fix.

1. Fill & turn off: When your toilet tank is full, turn off the water supply (that small silver valve near the floor behind the toilet).

2. Wait: Let it sit for several hours or overnight.

3. Turn on & listen: Turn the water back on. If you hear the tank refilling, your flapper is leaking and needs replacing.
