**🚸 Road Safety Matters — Every Single Day**
Today’s accident involving a child crossing the road to board a school bus is a heartbreaking reminder that safety isn’t optional. It takes *all of us*—drivers, parents, first responders, and community members—to prevent tragedies like this.
When you’re on the road:
- **School bus safety** — When the red lights flash and the stop arm extends, traffic in *both directions* must stop. Children are unpredictable, and those few seconds of patience can save a life.
- **Tow truck awareness** — Tow truck operators work just inches from traffic. Slow down and move over when you see flashing amber lights. Protect the people who are helping others.
- **Police and ambulance right‑of‑way** — Emergency responders race toward danger to help others. When you see flashing red or blue lights, slow down, move over, and give them the space they need to work safely.
- **Crosswalk vigilance** — Kids are small, fast, and often excited. Always scan for pedestrians near schools, bus stops, and residential areas.
- **Speed control** — Speed limits are designed to give drivers enough time to react when the unexpected happens.
Let’s honor that child and their family by recommitting to safer roads—slowing down, paying attention, and treating every flashing light as a life depending on us.
Stay safe, PEI. 💛
