Seniors' Week is this week!

Our seniors help make Strathmore the awesome community it is, so we're celebrating them with a full lineup of events happening throughout the community. To start things off right, Strathmore FCSS and Royal Canadian Legion Strathmore-Branch No 10 are hosting a kickoff event today at the Legion Hall from 4 to 6 p.m., so make sure you're there tonight!

Who says being prepared can't be fun?

Emergency Preparedness Day is TODAY! Come on by the Strathmore Motor Product Centre between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a day of safety actually being fun (and tasty, because hotdogs). We've got a bike safety course, fire extinguisher demos, an inflatable obstacle course, and a free hot dog with your name on it.

For those joining the bike course, don't forget to bring your bikes and helmets. For more information about upcoming events, check out Strathmore.ca/FCSSEvents

Another successful Business Walk day in Strathmore!

On May 27th, we wrapped up the second half of our Strathmore Business Walks (after our first round on May 20), connecting with more incredible local businesses to get valuable insights from our community.

Thank you to all the businesses that took the time to chat with us. We truly appreciate the conversations and warm welcomes!

And a special thank you as well to our amazing partners at Prospect Human Services, the Town of Strathmore, and the Strathmore Wheatland Chamber of Commerce for taking time out of your busy days to walk alongside us.

Next stop: Hussar, Standard, & Rockyford on June 9th

Made outdoor plans, and then the forecasts promises rains. Go figure.

On account of tomorrow's forecast promising rain and lightning, the Emergency Preparedness Day event will be moved to the Strathmore Motor Products Sports Centre. Still the same time (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and same planned activities (bike safety course, fire extinguisher demos, inflatable obstacle course, etc.), just indoors where you won't get soaked or shocked.

Also, still free food. Come hungry, these hot dogs won't eat themselves!

For those joining the bike course, don't forget to bring your bikes and helmets. For more information about upcoming events, check out Strathmore.ca/FCSSEvents

Hey dogs, quick reminder: please keep your humans on a leash while walking in parks or on pathways.
We know they mean well, but some humans get distracted very easily. One minute they’re walking nicely beside you, the next they’ve stopped to talk to a neighbour whose grilling burgers or just has a really nice lawn.

An unleashed human can quickly become a safety concern. Common incidents include:
👉 Stopping abruptly in the middle of the pathway to discuss the weather
👉 Yelling your full government name in public after they walked in the wrong direction
👉 Wandering into the nearest Tim Hortons without warning
👉 Getting distracted by a neighbour's garden and offering unsolicited advice on their tulips
👉 Running towards geese with a confidence level that far exceeds their abilities (never ends well)

Keep your people safe, pups. Humans are unpredictable.
