♻️ Recycling Reminder – Help to Reduce Contamination

We’ve had an increase in recycling contamination, so we want to remind residents to take a moment to check what belongs in the recycling bin before putting it out.

We recently changed recycling service providers, and our new provider is more diligent about identifying and documenting materials that are not accepted in recycling loads. While we are currently working through the transition and providing education and reminders when contamination is found, continued contamination can have consequences for the Town, including potential charges or fines for contaminated loads.

Please take a look at the attached list of accepted and non-accepted materials and help us keep our recycling loads clean.

When in doubt, leave it out!

A Reminder: Who Should You Contact?

The Town Office and Council have been receiving an increasing number of calls and messages regarding concerns that fall under the responsibility of the RCMP, including suspicious activity, disturbances, possible criminal activity, and other police matters.

We ask residents to please report these concerns directly to the RCMP rather than contacting the Town Office or a member of Council to report them on your behalf.

🚨 For emergencies or an immediate threat to safety, always call 911.
📞 For non-emergency police matters, contact the RCMP directly.

When you report an incident directly, police can speak with you firsthand, gather the necessary information, and determine the appropriate response.

The Town Office and Council are here to assist with municipal matters, but we cannot act as the middleman for police-related concerns or put our staff and elected officials in situations that may pose a safety risk.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation in contacting the right service for the right issue. It helps keep our community safer and allows everyone to focus on their responsibilities.
