A heads up from TransAlta:

“We have a large shutdown September 1st, running till October 21st on our Keephills Power Plant. There will be an increase of traffic along Hwy 627 and Hwy 770 during this time, as we are expecting a fluctuation between 300-400 contractors throughout the outage. With the current gravel trucks, and school started adding busses as well during this outage, we want to ensure the safety of all travelling these roads. We have reached out to the local peace officers as well as the RCMP to have additional patrols to enforce safety of the roadways.


Peak shift times will be Monday – Saturday:

5:00am – 7:30am
5:00pm – 8:00pm”

RCMP in are advising the public of the recent arrest of Patrick Willis Fair (69), a resident of . In October 2025, RCMP received a report of a sexual assault involving a female youth victim. Further investigation determined that additional female victims existed spanning from 1984 to 2025.
