Laura is from Edmonton and currently lives in Stony Plain. She has obtained “Superhero Status” and a degree in “Domestic Engineering” from her family. Laura has been with us at SPPL for 14 years. She raised her children in Stony Plain and enjoys the culture of kindness and collaboration in the community. She thinks the residents of Stony Plain are welcoming, generous, and invested in each other and building a community where everyone feels valued and supported.
Laura, also known as Miss Honey, is our Program and Activities Coordinator. She helps organize, plan, and implement all the events that happen at SPPL. Her work involves collaborating with partners and volunteers, creating materials for teen and children's programming, and keeping all the resources for programming organized and ready for use. She also helps the Library Assistants at the front desk from time to time. Laura wishes more people knew that libraries are much more than just a place to borrow books. She thinks libraries are welcoming community hubs that support people at every stage of life with programs, resources, experiences and staff that thoughtfully respond to their community's needs.
Laura enjoys reading nonfiction because there is always something for her to learn!
