This weekend our team had Fire Training Associates in for some training on Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday. We focused on "first due operations" and maximizing the efficiency of the first crews to arrive at a fire. We were fortunate enough to have 20 of our own members dedicate their weekend to this training and learn new tricks and methods that will help us help you!

Thanks to Salt & Spruce Photography for their wonderful shots!

Fact #5

Did you know that previous to our current location our fire station used to be the current library and town office?

Thanks for following along this National Volunteers Week with our random facts. If you want to learn more check out our website at https://www.stewiackefire.ca/about-us/history where we have more of our "story".

Fact #4:

Did you know that we have mutual aid agreements for large incidents that are automatically activated if certain criteria are met? As all departments around us are volunteers we never know how many members we or other departments will have available to respond to a specific emergency. Therefore we call multiple departments all with varying pieces of apparatus to come help and this is all done automatically!

Fact #3 for National Volunteers Week:

Did you know that aside from firefighting we also offer other responses to various emergencies?

Medical First Response
Vehicle Extrication
Swift Water Rescue
Ice Rescue
Boat Operations
And more

Most of these specialties come with added training and recurring certifications that need to be kept up. Our team of volunteers always steps up to the plate and offers the best we can for our community!
