Each year community groups partner together with Wm. E. Hay Stettler Secondary Campus to run a mock accident to show the Grade 12's the severity of drinking and distracted driving.
Drama students, along with Stettler RCMP, Stettler District Ambulance Association, Stettler Funeral Home, Fastimes Towing and The Stettler Independent presented the incident.
A big thank you to Apex Utilities and Heartland Industries for allowing staff the time off work to participate in their Firefighter roles.

For Seniors week we are sharing some Fire Safety tips for the seniors in your life.

🔥Discuss your fire escape plan with family and neighbors. Contact your building manager or fire department to discuss your plan if you need extra help

🔥Make a fire escape plan around your abilities. If you need to use a wheelchair or a cane, make sure you can get to it easily and get out quickly. If you wear hearing aids or eyeglasses, put them next to your bed while you are sleeping

🔥If you use a walker or wheelchair, check all exits to be sure that you can go through the doorways

🔥If you can’t hear your smoke alarm, consider getting one that has a different sound or one that comes with a bed shaker or strobe light

🔥Use a broom handle to test your smoke alarm, or ask someone for help

🔥Never smoke around medical oxygen

🔥Use a timer to remind you that you are cooking

Late Saturday night, the fire department was dispatched to a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found the residence fully involved. The home was unoccupied at the time of the incident.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control quickly, but remained on scene into the early morning hours to fully extinguish hotspots and ensure the fire was completely out.
It is always rewarding for our firefighters to see the community respond with such generosity and support. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to McDonald's for providing breakfast to our crews and graciously providing it at no cost.

Over the years, they have supported many charities and local organizations. Run entirely by dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes, often without recognition, they are true heroes helping to build a strong and compassionate community.
