Grateful Patient - Catherine Wolfkamp ❤🏥

On August 20, 2024, Catherine of St. Marys received the news no one wants to hear — she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.

After completing treatment, Catherine received hopeful news: her full-body scan in January 2026 was clear.

But just one month later, persistent back pain led to another difficult chapter. Catherine would learn that her cancer had returned and spread.

Through it all, she says the care she received at St. Marys Memorial Hospital played an important role in her journey. 💙

“I truly believe I have been able to heal and recover as quickly as I have because of the care I received at SMMH.”

From nurses and physicians to dietitians and every member of her care team, Catherine felt surrounded by compassion. She especially remembers Avery, an extern who helped make a difficult time feel a little brighter. 🥰

But when Catherine reflects on her experience at SMMH, one word stands out:

Community.

“I felt the community's love and support.”

Being cared for close to home meant Catherine's family and friends could be nearby — cheering her on through the small victories, from learning to climb the stairs to taking her first walks down the hallway.

Her story is a reminder that healthcare close to home is about more than medical treatment. It's about compassion, dignity, hope and having your community beside you when you need it most.

Last Thursday, we hosted our 33rd Annual Golf Tournament at River Valley in support of local healthcare, and what a day it was! ⛳️

A huge thank you to our Title Sponsor, Pharmacy, for their ongoing support of this event. We welcomed 139 golfers (just shy of 35 teams), 12 amazing volunteers and a whole lot of community spirit!

Together, we raised an incredible $40,000 in support of local healthcare right here in our community! 💙🏥
