It's finally here - our big moment, the big opening day! June 1 marks the official opening of our National Historic Sites for the season. As of today, you can explore historic family homes and lighthouses, fishing businesses, and more!

Take a guided tour at Signal Hill or at Cape Spear Lighthouse, explore the stone forts of Castle Hill, the former home of an Arctic explorer at Hawthorne Cottage, or the fishing business that fueled the Ryan Premises - there's something for everyone!

From Arctic sailors to stone forts, historic family homes to fishing business ventures, in Eastern Newfoundland we've got enough history to go around! And starting tomorrow, you can discover it all!

Signal Hill, Cape Spear Lighthouse, and all the National Historic Sites in our region open for the season on June 1.

Signal Hill is hosting an art expo on July 18-19 to celebrate 75 years since its designation as a national historic site! If you've previously created an art piece inspired by Signal Hill and are interested in showcasing it, contact [email protected] with your name, preferred medium (all visual artistic mediums are welcome), and some pictures of existing works for display by May 30, 2026.
