In the midst of fear, uncertainty and heartbreak, thousands of passengers from around the world were welcomed to Newfoundland and Labrador. Stranded far from home, they found compassion, kindness and a community willing to help.
Today, we remember those who lost their lives those whose lives were changed forever and the extraordinary humanity shown by the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Twenty-five years ago today, the world stood still as we watched the tragic events of 9/11 unfold.
In the middle of a difficult and uncertain time, thousands of international passengers found themselves in our province. Scared and worried, they found safety, compassion and kindness in Newfoundland and Labrador.
All these years later, we remember. We remember the lives lost and forever changed on that tragic day, and we remember the humanity that shone through during one of the darkest moments in our history.
