Come on in and visit. We are not much, now, but in my earliest days, it was as busy as the Jetsons show.

There are not many of us left "Brats" because it closed in 1960, but it was amazing military operations.

Over 45 thousand Newfoundland. Labrador and Nova Scotia women married U.S. Military during the Air Force, Navy, and Canadian and British troops occupation during the support of planes and military across the Atlantic and back. The Queen came to visit for the Regatta.

My sister has the 8mm film of those days. We didn't take pictures because we had the Bell and Howell camera and projector. We have movies of snow, and me in my pink snowsuit. I was a flaming redhead, hahahaah, I clashed, but it was fun galore.

Polio hit hard late 57. I had both vaccines and my brother had one. He had to learn to walk, again, so we put him on the tricycle. We taped his weak leg to the peddle, and he pushed with the other. As he got stronger, I rode the back of his trike to add more weight and resistance.

He lived and lived to be 70.

We used to put jelly in fresh snow and eat it like a snow cone.

Simple way of life--my home is now just a part of the city.

Thanks to Bill Libby for coming in and saying "hi". He worked on Pepperelle as the same time as dad. I don't think Bill worked on the flightline or they would have known one another.

I am very glad to know someone who was there, and to meet Mrs. Donohue who was born there as I was.

We are becoming an extinct group of brats to go along with our extinct birthplace.

Not much left: it closed in 1960 as the planes left Europe.
The year of the Bombers! We would watch those greay submaries with wings fly across the fence and land: never to cross the gate of the runway. Daddy would wave to us as another would land or take off. The age of "The Mighty 8th. Nine years later, our daddy would be gone. My birth and home is a relic of its original.

Thank you all, for checking in. This is old Air Force. This is the Mighty 8th. This is the hub from Europe to the U.S. My father was in charge of the bombers and bombs. My mom's entire family is here, still. The bases: Gander, Pepperelle, Stevensville, Argentia Harmon...all of them closed, long ago.

I can find so few people who even know about here. I have found one Air Force Brat and one who served with my dad when we were there.

My dad would be 97 in August, so not many others are still around if any.

There are not many of us left. Born after 1960, you could not be a Brat, here. I have found one brat and one active duty.
