There has been a lot of discussion about energy in Newfoundland and Labrador this week.

As gets underway in Stavanger, Norway 🇳🇴, those conversations are taking place on a global stage. Industry leaders, governments, researchers, and companies from around the world are gathering to discuss the future of offshore energy, energy security, technology, and investment.

From offshore operations and marine services to engineering, technology, and clean energy development, businesses across our region continue to play an important role in the evolving energy sector.

This week, Advantage St. John's is proud to join partners from across Atlantic Canada at ONS 2026 to showcase those capabilities, build new connections, and explore opportunities for the businesses and communities we represent.

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for the official launch of Ready at the Edge and helped make the event such a success.

A special thank you to AnnMarie Boudreau, Honourable Seamus O'Regan, and Lloyd Parrott, Minister, Energy and Mines, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, for helping advance the conversation around Newfoundland and Labrador's role in Canada's defence future.

Yesterday marked the beginning of a collaborative effort to showcase the province's strengths, capabilities and opportunities within Canada's evolving defence ecosystem. As the conversation continues at this week, we're excited to keep building momentum.

Hosted by ACADA - Atlantic Canada Aerospace & Defence Association, the conference brings together industry, government, military, and northern leaders focused on maritime and Arctic security.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, these aren’t distant challenges. The work happens here — shaped by environment, infrastructure, and the need to operate in real conditions.

Canada Day always feels like a good time to pause and appreciate where we are — not just as a country, but right here at home. In Newfoundland and Labrador, there is a lot to be proud of. That is a big part of what we get to champion at Advantage St. John’s. We love nothing more than welcoming visitors to the Capital Region. It was a pleasure to host Gareth Bevan and Steve Jeffries from Trident Engineering for a closer look at some of the strengths our region has to offer.

After spending some time at our office, Advantage St. John’s CEO Michelle Simms, joined them for a visit to Newdock - St. John's Dockyard Ltd., just one example of the infrastructure, capabilities, and industry assets that continue to draw interest to the region. We always value the chance to show visitors what’s happening on the ground and why more companies are exploring what’s possible here on .

Looking back, 2025 was a formative year for Advantage St. John’s as we strengthened regional alignment, sharpened the Capital Region’s value proposition, and advanced investment attraction across priority sectors.

From launching Canada’s Creative Coast to expanding our presence in key markets, this work is helping position Newfoundland and Labrador’s Capital Region for long-term opportunity.
