Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site, Parks Canada

Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site, Parks Canada Marvel at icebergs, migrating whales, and hunting seabirds on this rough Atlantic coast.

On Canada’s most easterly point of land, the oldest surviving lighthouse in Newfoundland and Labrador offers a glimpse into the lives of 19th century lighthouse keepers and their families.

Here are some of our hard-working staff from our Eastern Newfoundland national historic sites - thank you team!

Remember, when taking photos of nature, if it's a close-up of wildlife you're looking for, remember to only use binoculars or a telephoto lens! And, especially at Cape Spear, never get close to the ocean's edge!

Everyone loves the incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean from Cape Spear Lighthouse, so be sure to visit this World Oceans Day!

If you get a whale tail photo, you should share it with Hello Humpback! It's an app made by the province of Newfoundland and Labrador that will scan your whale tail photos to see if we've met that whale before. What's more, you'll get the whales life tale!

You see, whale tails are like our fingerprints - each one is unique - so maybe you'll see the same whale twice or find a new whale! Plus, not only are you getting some cool info, you're also helping with science and tracking of these majestic mammals.

Visit hellohumpback.ca to learn more and get the app.
