Move right when you see lights! An ambulance, firetruck or police vehicle are considered emergency vehicles. If one of them is approaching from any direction, you must yield right-of-way. Immediately clear your vehicle from an intersection and allow others to do so as well. Once clear, if you are on an undivided roadway, you need to move your vehicle to the right edge of the road and stop until the emergency vehicles have passed. If you are on a divided roadway, and the emergency vehicle is on the other side, proceed with caution, as the emergency vehicle may have to turn at any moment.

A message from our local Municipal Emergency Coordinator about an upcoming event.

Hello,

My name is Jeff Dayton; I serve as the Municipal Emergency Coordinator (MEC) for our RM in St. Francois Xavier. If you were not aware, our municipality has an emergency plan in place to guide us through different types of disasters and severe weather events.
On Wednesday, October 15th from 6:30–8:00 p.m. at the RM Office, 1060 HWY 26, I will be hosting an Emergency Preparedness Exercise. This session will focus on the importance of having a 24-hour emergency kit ready in your home for you and your family members.
We will also be joined by our regional EMO designate, Patrick Fillion, who will provide additional insight into emergency planning.
I encourage you to attend and take part in this valuable exercise. It is a great opportunity to ask questions and learn more about keeping your family safe during an emergency.
In addition, I am looking for volunteers to join our local emergency team. This group will help strengthen our emergency plan and be ready to support our community when it matters most. If you are interested in helping, this session is a great way to get that started!
Refreshments will be provided.
I hope to see you there.

Sincerely,

Jeff Dayton
Municipal Emergency Coordinator

The RM Of St. Francois Xavier Level 2 Burn Ban has been lifted effective immediately. Please still use caution when having a fire. As always, the burning regulations in the Burning Bylaw (BL 5-2021) and the Fire Prevention and Emergency Services Bylaw (BL 14-2011) are always in effect. Thank you for your cooperation.

Be advised that the RM of St. François Xavier is under a Level 2 (Yellow) burn ban effective today, May 2, 2025 and until further notice as per By-Law 5-2021.

Today, on International Firefighters’ Day, we pay tribute to the courageous men and women who rush into danger with selfless abandon, inspiring us all with their remarkable bravery. Their unwavering dedication to protecting lives and property is a beacon of hope that motivates us to be better versions of ourselves. Whether they’re battling raging fires, responding to emergency situations, or providing comfort in the midst of chaos, firefighters embody the very essence of heroism. To every firefighter – past, present, and future – we extend our deepest gratitude for your willingness to put it all on the line, even when the risks are great and the recognition is scarce. Your unshakeable courage and sacrifice leave an indelible mark on every life you touch. Today and every day, we stand in awe of your remarkable strength and unwavering commitment.

If you’ve ever felt the call to serve your community, consider volunteering with your local fire department. Many fire departments, including the St. Francois Xavier Fire Department, rely on ordinary people who step up to make an extraordinary difference in the lives of those around them. Your time and dedication could make all the difference.
