Society of Crows has just been nominated for a Leo Award in the Best Cinematography Short Documentary category! Watch it on knowledge.ca when you sign up for a free account.

On Thurs June 11 we welcome local author and ornithologist Rob Butler for a fascinating look into the mind of a crow. Society of Crows delves into the latest research of the complexities of the social behaviour of the crow. He will also discuss his new book about a lifetime of crow research.

The documentary will not be shown at this event so, whether you secured a spot for the evening or not, we encourage you to give the documentary a watch through Knowledge.

Brown paper packages tied up with string are back, but this time for kids, tweens and teens!

Our Blind Date with a Book was so popular around Valentine’s Day for adults, and we had feedback from tweens and teens to curate another display catered towards them.

Each wrapped book includes a gift at with a summary of the book. The bundle also includes a pencil, a fun sticker and a bookmark. People checking out the bundles are encouraged to write a review of the book and return it with the bookmark placed inside. The books on display range from ages 7 and up to ages 14 and up, and the suggested reading ages are on the tags.

Find the display near the desk on the free standing shelf behind the New Junior Fiction Books.

If you’re looking to mix up your go-to recipes at home, we have so many cookbooks spanning a huge variety of cuisines in the library!

Natalie set herself some homework to cook and document a new recipe this week from our collection, and ‘s plant to plate provided the inspiration when picking a dish. Borrow it for yourself or choose another cookbook for your next new recipe!

Having a book stay open in place rather than scrolling through a recipe on a phone was so refreshing.
