Content note: This post discusses su***de and mental health. Please take care while reading.

Start the conversation. Change the narrative.

This World Su***de Prevention Day, we're joining a global call to bring conversations about su***de and mental health out of the shadows.

Approximately 12 people die by su***de every day in Canada. Behind every number is a person, a family, a friend and a community.

Talking openly and compassionately about su***de helps challenge stigma and can make it easier for someone to reach out when they need support.

Here in the Sea to Sky, support is available. Through , young people ages 12–24 can access free, confidential mental health and substance use supports, counselling, peer support and more. SSCS Adult & Family Services also works alongside individuals and families experiencing some of life's hardest moments, helping build safety, stability and connection.

Sometimes changing the narrative starts with a simple conversation: How are you, really?

If you or someone you know is thinking about su***de, call or text 9-8-8 for support, 24/7. In an emergency, call 9-1-1.

Know someone who isn't totally ready for back to school? They’re not the only one.
We asked Foundry Sea to Sky Peer Support Workers what helped them navigate those back-to-school nerves and what they wish they’d known when they were younger.

Their advice? Find something to look forward to. Focus on what you can control. Find your people. And remember that you don’t have to wait until things feel really bad to ask for support.

Swipe through for their tips → and read the full story on our blog.

A huge thank you to The Hive Climbing Gym in Vancouver for generously donating climbing holds to our Child Development team!

These holds will help us build a new climbing wall at Harrow Road, where children participating in our programs will be able to climb, play and build strength, motor skills and confidence.

Opening this fall, Harrow Road will bring more than 30 essential programs and services together under one roof in Pemberton — creating a welcoming community space where children and families can access support, connect with one another and build relationships in their community.

Thank you, , for helping us create a space where local kids can learn, grow and thrive.

Curious about what our Strengthening Families program is all about? This free online program supports caregivers of children ages 6–11 with practical tools for listening, giving directions, setting limits, communication, and problem‑solving — the strategies families tell us make the biggest difference at home.

And the impact is clear: 100% of participants said the program was a beneficial use of their time. “I learned a lot.”

Two fall options begin Sept 29.
