Attention municipal water users:

On the 1st of June at approximately 135pm, Spanish Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire on Beckerton Shooting Range Rd at Grassy Lake. Once on scene the fire had spread into the bush area around the structure as well and jumped the road into the bush across from the structure and was spreading in the bush area along Grassy Lake.

Serpent River FN Fire Dept attended to assist with the structure fire.
Sables Spanish Fire Department and MNRF flew a crew in from Sudbury to assist with the wildland fire.
In total approximately 20 Firefighters were on scene to extinguish the fire over five hours. MNRF remained on scene monitoring the wildland fire.
The structure was a total loss along with a Snowmachine. The value of the loss is still under investigation. Cause is still under investigation by the Spanish Fire Department. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
Spanish Fire Department and the Town of Spanish sincerely thanks our Mutual Aid partners Serpent River FN Fire Department , Sables Spanish Fire Department and the MNRF for their quick response preventing a large wildland fire from occurring.
