Hosted at the beautiful Hockey Opportunity Camp grounds, campers will enjoy daily swim lessons, water activities, outdoor adventures, sports, crafts, tubing, kayaking, paddleboarding, archery, forest games, and so much more.

Today marks the arrival of the first-ever FlixBus service in South River, providing a direct transportation connection between South River and Toronto, with access to destinations across Ontario and beyond. This exciting milestone enhances travel options for the community, supports local tourism and economic development, and improves regional connectivity. The Village of South River is pleased to welcome this new service and looks forward to the opportunities it will create for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.

The Village of South River continues to support this important connectivity initiative and the opportunities it brings to our community. The members of South River Machar Fire Department extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of OPP Constable Tarun Bali following his tragic passing.

Although we never had the opportunity to work directly alongside Constable Bali, his loss is felt throughout the emergency services community. Times like these remind us how grateful we are to work with the dedicated members of the Ontario Provincial Police who continually and tirelessly put themselves in harm's way to protect our communities each and every day.

The commitment, courage, and sacrifice demonstrated by police officers across Ontario often go unseen, yet they remain steadfast in their service to others. Today, we pause to reflect on that sacrifice and to honour the life and service of Constable Bali.

On behalf of all members of South River Machar Fire Department, we offer our sincere sympathies to Constable Bali's loved ones and to every member of the Ontario Provincial Police as they mourn the loss of one of their own.

Rest in Peace, Constable Tarun Bali. Your service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.

We are thrilled to announce that we have an incredible 68 young players registered and 8 amazing volunteers ready to make this season a success! 🙌

Our new soccer program kicks off on June 25 and will run for 7 weeks of fun, learning, and teamwork. Each week, players will learn a new soccer skill and then put it into action during a game to build confidence, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

A huge thank you to our volunteers and families for your support. We can't wait to see the kids grow, learn, and have fun on the field this summer! ⚽💚

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is reminding residents that rabies can be transmitted when a person is bitten or scratched by an infected animal, or if infected saliva comes into contact with open wounds—or the eyes, nose, or mouth.

Wild animals may look healthy, but rabies cannot be identified just by appearance.

🛑 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬 & 𝐑𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐞𝐬
• Avoid all contact with wild animals—do not feed, touch, or handle them
• Secure garbage bins with tight-fitting lids to avoid attracting wildlife
• Keep pets vaccinated annually and always leashed when outdoors
• Teach children the importance of staying away from wild animals
• Report unusual animal behaviour to the Health Unit or wildlife authorities

⚠️ 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐔𝐧𝐮𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞:

• Animals active during the day (especially bats or raccoons)
• No fear of humans
• Excessive drooling
• Abnormal barking in dogs
• Paralysis or difficulty moving
• Trouble eating or drinking
• Aggression or attacking objects/people

🩹 𝐈𝐟 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝:

• Wash the wound immediately with soap and water
• Try to remove as much saliva as possible
• Avoid getting wash water in eyes, nose, or mouth
• Seek medical care right away (doctor, ER, or walk-in clinic)
• Report the incident to the Health Unit online or by phone: 𝟕𝟎𝟓-𝟒𝟕𝟒-𝟏𝟒𝟎𝟎
