🌻 A heartfelt thank you to Susan Bundock!

Susan retired once and we brought her back to work. Today marks Susan’s FINAL day in the Chamber office after generously stepping in to provide a full year of leave coverage.

With an incredible 28 years of service to the Smithers District Chamber of Commerce and greater business community, Susan’s oracle knowledge, warmth, dedication and longstanding relationships within our business community are truly irreplaceable. We are grateful for everything she has contributed, not only over the past year, but throughout nearly three decades of championing our Chamber and community.

While today closes another chapter, it certainly isn’t goodbye! We are determined to keep Susan engaged and connected, and our members can look forward to seeing her lending her familiar smile and admin support as a volunteer at future Chamber events/initiatives.

Thank you, Susan, for your extraordinary service and for always being such an important part of the Chamber team. We appreciate you more than words can say!

📢 Looking for a meaningful way to increase your visibility while supporting local economic development?

The Smithers District Chamber of Commerce’s Digital Airport Advertising Program offers organizations, businesses, industry partners, non-profits, and community leaders the opportunity to connect with thousands of travellers, visitors, and residents throughout the year.

Our community-focused, not-for-profit advertising network features eight large-format digital screens located throughout the Arrivals and Departures areas of the Smithers Regional Airport, providing consistent and professional exposure in our region’s most visible public space.

✈️ Program Features:
• 4 large-format screens in Arrivals
• 4 large-format screens in Departures
• Static or 20-second digital advertisements
• Continuous year-round exposure
• Thousands of annual impressions

What makes this program unique is its shared-value approach. Operated by the Chamber in partnership with the airport, 50% of all advertising revenue is reinvested directly back into airport operations. Remaining proceeds help support Chamber programs, business advocacy, economic development initiatives, and community-building efforts throughout the region.

By participating, you’re not only promoting your organization, you’re helping strengthen local infrastructure, support economic growth, and invest in the future of our community.

📢 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT | RAIL SAFETY WEEK: September 21–27, 2026

The Smithers District Chamber of Commerce is joining our Members Canadian National Railway Company and Operation Lifesaver Canada in reminding residents, businesses, workers and visitors that rail safety is a shared responsibility.

A moment of distraction or a risky shortcut around railway tracks can have irreversible consequences. Please be rail smart:

• Stay off railway tracks, bridges, tunnels, yards and other railway property. Tracks are never safe places to walk, cycle, play or take photos.
• Cross only at designated railway crossings.
• Obey all warning lights, bells, signs and gates. Never go around or under a lowered gate.
• Stop a safe distance from the tracks, look both ways and listen before crossing.
• Put away phones, remove headphones and remain alert.
• Never attempt to beat a train.

Please share these reminders with your family, employees and colleagues. One conversation could help prevent a tragedy.

📲 Learn more and take the rail-safety pledge through CN Rail Safety. https://www.cn.ca/en/safety/rail-safety/

Additional resources are available from Operation Lifesaver Canada.

To report an unsafe situation on or near CN railway property, contact CN Police at 1-800-465-9239.
