The Métis Education Foundation (MEF) awards are currently open 🎉

MEF – Métis Scholar Award(s)
Supporting Métis Citizens pursuing academic, artistic, or athletic excellence at the provincial, national, or international level, bringing recognition to the Métis community in Alberta.

To be considered for a Métis Education Foundation Métis Scholar Award, an applicant must be enrolled in a full-time graduate or undergraduate program in a post-secondary institution where the MEF does not have an endowment agreement.

Preference will be given to applicants that demonstrate academic achievement, financial need and/or excellence in the chosen activity.

In response to the incredible level of interest from families in the Parkland County area, Roots of Resilience Charter School is exploring the opportunity to open a campus in the Stony Plain/Spruce Grove area for September 2027!

We’re excited to connect with families to share more about our vision and answer questions about our education approach rooted in Indigenous ways of knowing, land-based learning, culture, and holistic education.

Métis Student Representative Applications are NOW OPEN!

The Otipemisiwak Métis Student Association (OMSA) is excited to launch the Métis Student Representative Initiative for the 2026–2027 academic year!

We’re looking for enthusiastic, dependable, and community-minded Métis students who want to connect with fellow students, strengthen their campus community, and share information about programs, services, events, scholarships, and other opportunities available to Métis students.

As a Métis Student Representative, you’ll have the opportunity to:
> Gain valuable volunteer and leadership experience
> Access professional development opportunities
> Build your network within the Métis community and with educational partners
> Receive OMSA and En Roo branded apparel and promotional items
> Receive an honorarium in recognition of your contributions

This is your opportunity to develop your leadership skills, make new connections, and help strengthen the Métis student community at your post-secondary institution.

We are ready to welcome Citizens from across the Nation to our beautiful District! 💙♾️

The 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀’ 𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 is being hosted in Slave Lake, and the Lesser Slave Lake Métis District is honoured to help start the gathering off in a good way with our 𝗔𝗖𝗚 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗕𝗕𝗤 today!✨

Join us 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬 as we welcome Citizens of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government to our home territory with food, smiles, and community connection. Our LSLMD Citizen Representative, District Captain, District Councilors, team, and citizen volunteers will be serving up bison burgers, beef burgers, hot dogs, salads, watermelon, dessert, and plenty of warm hospitality. 🍔🌭🍉

We will have a live band playing (Stacey Degiorgio & Donnie L'Hirondelle), and there will be a coloring activity for kids 🖍️🖍️
