📢 Update for Norfolk Businesses

The Government of Canada has released an updated list of U.S. products subject to Canadian counter-tariffs, effective September 8, 2026. These measures are in response to new U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods and include targeted products across sectors such as steel and aluminum, dairy, appliances, agricultural equipment, pulp and paper, plastics, and electronics. In some cases, existing counter-tariffs will increase from 25% to 50% to match U.S. tariff rates.

Businesses that import products from the United States are encouraged to review the complete list and assess any potential impacts on their supply chains, purchasing decisions, and costs. The Government of Canada has indicated these countermeasures will remain in place until U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods are removed.
