Last year, we hosted our very first Farm to Table Dinner Fundraiser at Cranberry Creek Gardens, featuring an incredible meal prepared by Devlin's Country Bistro.

The event was a sold-out, magical evening that brought friends, supporters, and community members together for a memorable night in support of a meaningful cause: our community's only dedicated gender-based violence service and shelter.

This year's event promises another unforgettable experience with a delicious farm-to-table meal, a beautiful outdoor setting, and live music by The Treeline to set the perfect fall atmosphere.

Make a difference in your community!
HNWS is seeking to fill two positions on our Board of Directors.
As the only gender-based violence shelter serving Haldimand and Norfolk, HNWS provides much more than a safe place to stay. Our services include counselling, outreach, children's programming, prevention education, system navigation support and a Grade 8 girls empowerment camp.
We are looking for passionate, community-minded individuals who want to help guide and strengthen our mission of supporting survivors of gender-based violence and their children.

Board meetings are held monthly in the evening and are typically virtual.

Feminist icon and celebrated author Gloria Steinem has passed away at the age of 92 at her home in New York City. 🕊️

As a co-founder of Ms. magazine and one of the most powerful voices of the modern feminist movement, Steinem spent decades fighting tirelessly for equality, women’s rights, and reproductive freedom. By bravely sharing her own experience with abortion publicly, Gloria helped destigmatize reproductive healthcare—paving the way for women to reclaim power over their own bodies, health, and physical autonomy. Her life’s work reminds us of how much has been accomplished and how much further we have to go.

 As we honour her extraordinary legacy, we recommit to building a world where every woman has the freedom to choose her own path, with safety, freedom and dignity.

We at OAITH educate and lead with the strength and work of the feminists who walked so we could run. And we will continue this work so future generations of women can fly.

Through our Justice for Women Review Team, we offer the Cut It Out and Make it Our Business awareness programs. This free training offered to salons and businesses is centered around what you can look for and how to help someone experiencing gender-based violence.
