Community Living Access Mission: To advocate with, empower and support people with disabilities to live the lives they choose

Community Living Access is a non-profit charitable organization. The association was started by people who had a developmental disability, their families, friends and volunteers who believed that all people have the right to live in and contribute to the life of the community.

On Saturday, The Extraordinaires hosted People Helping People, a workshop for self-advocates and those who would like to learn to be a self-advocate! The event was HUGE success and completely SOLD OUT! Speakers included Moira Robertson, The Council of Community Living Ontario – Keith Metalf, Amber Taylor, Niko Pupella, Rose Vandermeer from The Centre for Housing Rights, and Michael & Marcel Jacques.

The Extraordinaires would like to thank McDonalds for their donation of coffee. And thanks to Community Living Access and the Norfolk Association for Community Living for their support in making the day happen!

It was wonderful to see so many people and local businesses take part in Community Living Month by proudly showing off their blue and green ribbons! 💙💚 Thank you to everyone who helped spread the message of inclusion throughout our community.

Stay tuned to hear who won the contest!

We’re proudly showing our love and support for Community Living Access and their blue & green ribbon campaign! 💙💚

Community Living Access is already part of our Superior family in so many ways. We have amazing staff members here, and we are lucky enough to have some of their incredible clients take part in our gym and personal training services too.

We love and appreciate every single one of them. They bring smiles, hard work, personality, and so much joy through our doors and honestly, our gym is better because of them.

So here’s our blue & green ribbon, worn proudly, with love from all of us at Superior Workout Training Centre.

Stay Strong, Stay Superior 💙💚

Today, we proudly raised the Community Living flag at Governor’s Square in Simcoe to mark Community Living Month.

Patricia Morris of Community Living Access shared a few words on behalf of the organization, while Councillor/Deputy Mayor Adam Veri Ward 6 brought greetings on behalf of Norfolk County. Kevin shared a powerful speech he had written in recognition of Community Living Month. Stella Barker from the Norfolk Association for Community Living was also in attendance, along with other members of the community.

As we raise the flag we call on everyone in Norfolk to champion inclusion! When people with intellectual disabilities are truly seen, heard, and valued, our community grows stronger.

Thanks to Norfolk County for recognizing the importance of inclusion, belonging, and Community Living.
