Today, we’re turning back the clock and taking a look at the early days of the Shubenacadie Fire & Emergency Services and some of the men who proudly served their community.🚒

Long before the modern equipment, technology and emergency services we know today, local volunteer firefighters answered the call whenever their neighbours needed them. The Shubenacadie Fire Department has a long-standing tradition of community service, and has served the area for 60+ years of serving.

Pictured here are: Back row, left to right: Lowell Barr, Max Williams, Fred MacDonald, Claude Williams, Holmes Withrow, Harvey Williams and Wilfred Robinson. Front row, left to right: Norman Barr, Vic Tully, Win Rose and Harold Reid.

These photographs are more than just a look at the past, they help us remember the people who gave their time, energy and often put themselves in harm’s way to help protect their neighbours, friends, families and even folks that they didn’t know❤️🚒
