The Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is committed to managing and conserving the provinces forest, wildlife, and mineral resources through sustainable development, protecting species at risk, monitoring forest health and performing ongoing research. What a great day! We managed to grab a few quick pics between all of our amazing visitors and handing out seedlings at Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth and currently at the Parade of Lights in Halifax!

Great news!!! If you missed the Tree for Boston celebrations in Lunenburg, there's two more opportunities to visit the tree and pick up a red spruce seedling tomorrow Saturday, November 15th!

🌲 Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth from 9am - 12pm. Take your photo with the tree. Can you get the whole tree in your picture?
🌲Parade of Lights in Halifax from 6pm - 8pm. The tree will be lit up and ready for it's drive to Boston!

Lunenburg and Milton district staff and our Outreach team couldn't resist a photo op at the celebrations on Wednesday.

Ronnie Feener, who planted this years Tree for Boston decades ago, Lunenburg DNR staff and our Outreach team, checked in on the tree preparations today.

Did you know that rope plays a big role with Tree for Boston?
Each branch has been professionally inspected and safely tied with about 450m of rope to protect the tree during its travels!

Tips to keep in mind as you travel to join us for the Tree for Boston Celebration on Wednesday, November 12 at 10:30am, 49 Herman's Island Road, Lunenburg.

1. This event is rain or shine. Please dress for the weather.

2. Parking near the tree site is limited however accessible drop off and parking will be available.

3. At our welcome tent, you can sign the Tree for Boston well wishes book and pick up a red spruce seedling. Who knows, you may be planting a future Tree for Boston. 🎄

How do we prepare for the Tree for Boston events?

One way is through educational visits. Outreach Officer Tabitha spent the last few days with students of Lunenburg presenting information and answering very thoughtful questions. These students will be with us at the tree cutting ceremony happening November 12, 10:30am at 49 Herman's Island Road in Martins Brook.

We can't believe it's only one week away!!!

Our Outreach team is hard at work planning this years Tree for Boston ceremony and events. This years tree is being donated from Lunenburg and will be cut on Wednesday, November 12, at 10:30 a.m. during a public event at 49 Herman’s Island Road in Martins Brook.
