This month, we are proud to highlight Mariana Rodriguez, an outstanding third-year B.B.A. student double majoring in Human Resources & Management with a Minor in French Studies!

Trilingual in English, French, and Spanish, Mariana has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership, inclusion, and community building through her involvement as Co-Lead of the Women in Business Society, Diversity Director for the Bishop’s Charity Fashion Show, HR Intern at Bishop’s University through the CO-OP program, and former Diversity Representative for the SRC. A Ronald Crowley Scholarship recipient and CEOx1Day Ottawa Semi-Finalist, her academic and professional experiences reflect a passion for creating meaningful impact. From arriving in Canada in 2019 speaking only Spanish to now thriving in three languages, Mariana’s journey is a testament to resilience, growth, and leadership, and we are excited to see the positive contributions she will continue to make within and beyond the Bishop’s community!

Study Hall has begun! 🤓
The Library remains accessible for 2 hours after closing time, Dec. 3-13 for Study Hall.
Please be sure to arrive before official LLC closing time because the doors will lock at the start of Study Hall and be accessible for exiting the LLC only.
For security reasons, student IDs are mandatory and Study Hall is limited to the Webster Reference Room, LLC 106 and the LLC Cafe only.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES SUSPENDED / SUSPENSION DES ACTIVITÉS ACADÉMIQUES

Based on information from the city of Sherbrooke's civil security office, and to ensure the safety of the community during snow removal operations, the University has made a decision to suspend academic activities for Monday, February 17th, 2025. At this time, the University plans to resume activities on Tuesday, February 18th. Please watch for updates through university communications.

Additionally, the following buildings will be closed for the day: Academic buildings, the John H. Price Sports and Recreation Centre & the Library Learning Commons (LLC).

Champlain College has also suspended academic activities for the day. Please refer to their website for more information.

Employees are asked to work from home for the day where possible. Please contact your supervisor, if required. Employees that need to be on campus will be contacted as required.

Please take extra care if traveling is necessary and consult Quebec 511.

Selon les informations du bureau de la sécurité civile de la Ville de Sherbrooke et pour assurer la sécurité de la communauté sur le campus lors des opérations de déneigement, l’Université a pris la décision de suspendre les activités académiques pour la journée du lundi 17 février 2025. L’Université planifie de reprendre ses opérations le mardi 18 février 2025. Veuillez surveiller les mises-à-jour de l’Université via courriel, le site Web et les plates-formes de médias sociaux.

De plus, les bâtiments suivants seront fermés pour la journée : les bâtiments académiques, le centre sportif John H. Price et la Bibliothèque et Carrefour des ressources éducatives (LLC).

LLC 105 is available for silent, individual study whenever the room is not being used for regularly scheduled classes (please consult schedule of classes posted beside the door). If there is no class scheduled in LLC 105, please feel free to walk in and to use the space to study. Please keep the door open, the lights on and use this space for silent, individual studying only as we enter the final exam period. Family, friends, and colleagues gathered outside the LLC this afternoon to plant a memorial pear tree in honour of Barb Custeau '84. Barb had worked in the Bishop's University Library Learning Commons since 2001 and was a kind and familiar face to many. She also worked in the residences during her student years and at Dewhurst Dining Hall shortly after graduating from Bishop’s. Barb was a proud B.U. alumna and a big fan of the Gaiters Football program. Her memory will take root in this tree, blossoming year after year, a symbol of the lasting mark she left on our community.

A memorial tree planting ceremony to honour former Library employee, Barbara Custeau, will take place Friday at 2:30 in front of the LLC, near the Gazebo.
