Dufferin Arts Council (DAC)

Dufferin Arts Council (DAC) The Dufferin Arts Council (DAC) was founded in 1992 as a volunteer, not-for-profit community organization.

The goal is to support and promote the arts and provide members with cultural experiences and social activities. Members enjoy a monthly luncheon followed by a talk or performance by someone involved in some aspect of the arts. Other popular events are pub nights, cabaret evenings, and the annual general meeting and picnic.

It was a wonderful afternoon of books, authors, and conversation at the annual Authors in Mulmur event this past Sunday, August 23!📚

The Foley Barn was filled with a sold-out crowd enjoying Terry Fallis, Heather Marshall, and Linwood Barclay in conversation with Bernadette Hardaker.

This much-loved local annual literary event is made possible by the generosity of the Foleys (who have loaned their barn for the event for many years), and by the vision and hard work of Nancy Frater of BookLore Orangeville and the Dufferin Arts Council.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring this event to life (especially the Shelburne Public Library and the Special Events Committee) and a special thank you to DAC Executive Director Shirley Boxem for managing the bar.😊

DAC was excited to see Mono resident James Robin Gerus at the Dufferin Film Festival this past weekend, promoting his short film 'I’m not Jacques'. 🎬

James is an actor, writer, and storyteller, and a familiar face to DAC, having been a of our Communications Committee in the recent past.

He’s also no stranger to the DFF either. In the festival’s inaugural year, James (alongside Liam Gillespie) won the Adult Category of the DFF Screenwriting Competition for their script 'Handsy'. Now in its third year, it was great to see James back at the DFF, continuing to share his creativity and stories with our community.

We love seeing local talent shine - congrats, James! 🌟🎥
