National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (NDTR) and Orange Shirt Day are observed on September 30 to recognize the legacy of residential schools and honour the children who never returned home, Survivors, their families and communities. The day also reminds us of the harms caused by the residential school system and the ongoing impacts on Indigenous Peoples. 🪶

🪘 Indigenous drum teachings where participants can learn about the sacred role the drum plays in Indigenous cultures and experience traditional teachings firsthand

🌱 Gardening workshop featuring seed gathering and harvesting from the demonstration garden

🍳 Cooking and story time workshop with author Nadia Hohn, where participants will prepare banana fritters, puff puff, and fried plantains while exploring culture and community through food

🏠 Do you have a vacant property? If a building has been vacant for more than 90 days, it may need to be registered under the Town's new Vacant Building Registry By-law pilot. The one-year pilot aims to improve neighbourhood safety and address issues like property deterioration, vandalism, graffiti, and unauthorized access.

Certain properties are exempt, 🚫 including seasonal homes, active construction sites, farm buildings, and temporary one-year exemptions for owners in long-term care or after a property owner's death.
