Happy retirement to big-hearted staff, Deb! After almost two decades at SCACL, she is on to the next chapter. A nice farewell party gave all a chance to wish her well. 👏🏖️

Friends of SCACL were brave last week. Congrats on the fundraising for local Special Olympics sport.

SCACL Day Program had the opportunity to connect with inclusion pr for Love Month. 💖

We created Valentine’s cards for them and in return, received a thoughtful surprise.

Moments like this remind us how meaningful community connection is building relationships, spreading kindness, and creating a sense of belonging beyond our own walls.

Happy Love Month, everyone! ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you to posAbilities and inclusionartshow.com for inviting us out to the Roadhouse Community Centre to take in some art. The event celebrated creativity, diversity, and community. Our crew thoroughly enjoyed the experience and left excited to participate next year. It was such a fun and inspiring day trip!

As Truth and Reconciliation Day approaches, SCACL invites each of us to reflect on how we can personally engage in the ongoing journey of reconciliation.

Our Advocacy Council has reviewed the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s recommendations and committed to making the language of the shíshálh Nation visible throughout our buildings. This is a meaningful way to honour the Nation and its culture, and perhaps even begin learning words in she shashishalhem (the shíshálh language).

We also warmly invite our community to join us in the Walk for Reconciliation, following a Commemoration Ceremony at the Sechelt Residential School monument.

Ceremony begins at 11:00 AM
Walk begins at 12:30 PM and concludes at 1:30 PM, starting from the same location.
Let us walk together in remembrance, respect, and hope.

For ~25 years Sherrie has directed the social, recreational, and prevocational programming for our day service, supported many of the people we serve, and mentored a many a staff. This September marks the start of a new chapter for her and our program. Her years of leadership and reliability will be missed.
